Powell Contracting was established in 1967. We are looking to add General Labourers to our team based out of Aurora, Ontario.
Unionized position (LiUNA Local 183) with benefits and pension
Hourly rate of $37.26
Night shift premium of $6.00 per hour
Please Note:
Working hours (shifts) will vary and candidates will be required to work flexible shifts (days, nights and weekends).
Responsibilities:
Ability to work in all types of weather, with flexibility of the work schedule dependent on the client requirement.
Must be available to work days, nights and weekends as required. Hours may vary depending on the season.
Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50lbs+ regularly
Perform a wide variety of jobs and duties as assigned, with a high level of proficiency and accuracy
Demonstrate problem solving, planning, and organizing skills
Identify requirements for materials, tools and communicate these to the Foreman/Operations Coordinator
Review all jobs assigned to ensure no issues and properly plan to use all materials effectively, report any deviation to the Foreman
Accountable to ensure working tools are properly used, treated with care and returned. Report any deficient tool to Tool Crib Manager for tag out and repair
Ensure any daily maintenance/inspections are completed
Participate in the safety culture and complete all required paperwork such as tool box talks, job sheets, traffic plan etc. in accordance with the company policy’s and work safe procedure
Accountable for proper and timely reporting of accidents, near miss, first aid, and incidents to Foreman
Qualifications:
2-4 years of labour experience, ideally in construction
Valid G License
Hoisting and Rigging training a asset
Must be reliable, responsible and conduct oneself in a professional manner; company perception and customer satisfaction are key to our success
An energetic team player who can work well and communicate with others, as well as be self-directed and work independently
Capable of interpreting various construction related drawings and documents
Ability to work year round in all types of weather which may involve muddy, slippery or icy surface conditions, and typically included walking around job sites on uneven terrain
Maintain good physical condition, situational awareness and judgement in order to respond quickly and work safely in a safety sensitive environment (often road side and almost always around heavy equipment in use)
