The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills to join the Construction Branch for a 2 year term. This position will be located in Regina.
As Director of Construction Standards, you will be responsible for the leadership, development and documentation of standards, specifications, practices and policies related to the Ministry’s construction activities. You will also form part of a provincial team that provides support to various branches and effectively collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including other branches, other ministries, regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants and various other business partners.
The Director of Construction Standards leads a team of professionals who support the delivery of construction projects by providing expert opinion, guidance, advice and training on matters relating to construction standards. You will work closely with design, construction, operations, maintenance, procurement and legal teams in the development of general provisions, special provisions, contract specifications, policies and practices. You will be the primary contact with the Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association and liaise with other industry partners. You will also provide leadership for tri-party committee initiatives.
To qualify for the Director of Construction Standards position you must be eligible to register for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). You must have several years of experience and knowledge of highway design, construction, maintenance, and operations within Saskatchewan.
