A temporary part time (.4) SEL/Behaviour Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective immediately until June 30, 2023. The assignment will be at Ecole Central Elementary School.
Ecole
Central Elementary School of the Arts is a K-6, Fine Arts French
Immersion school located in the heart of downtown Fort St. John, in the
beautiful Peace River Valley. We offer an early French immersion
program, which begins in kindergarten. Fourteen percent of our students
are of First Nations ancestry. Our school has a staffing compliment of
15 teachers and 8 support workers as well a principal, and .5 vice
principal, reading support teacher and a .5 librarian. Our school
enjoys itinerant access to a range of services. École
Central Elementary School is a Fine Arts school and staff appointments
will reflect the specific classroom needs and the Fine Arts Programme

Qualifications and Experience
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
French is an asset but not mandatory
Experience in and commitment to offering a personalized learning
education program as outlined in the school information listed below
Experience teaching primary/intermediate students and working collaboratively in a team teaching situation
Working knowledge of the new curriculum to plan effectively
Working knowledge of Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, Phonemic Awareness Development
Working knowledge of current practice in teaching numeracy
Ability to use performance standards in reading, writing, numeracy and social responsibility
Committed to individualized instruction and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques
Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement
individualized learning plans for students with academic, social,
emotional, and learning difficulties
Ability to assist in the implementation of individualized education plans for low incidence students
Knowledge and understanding regarding the needs of autistic children, commitment to use of visual supports
Demonstrated ability to identify, work with and assist students who are experiencing difficulties
Experience with Function Analysis of Behaviour, Behaviour Intervention Plans
Experience working with educational assistants
Experience teaching in a multiage setting
Strong classroom management skills
Committed to working with staff on the school plan and with professional development
Ability to relate well with students parents and staff members
Committed to following the goals and strategies outlined in the school improvement plan

Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
Compensation
$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
$2,674 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $54,410 – $97,815
Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
