Job Summary

BLUBC Education Consulting now is seeking a dynamic and passionate part-time tutor / teacher, who wants to teach young people, and develop their Math and Science abilities. If you are looking for a unique educational challenge, are available in the evenings, and need to supplement your income, this job is perfect for you. Our programs offer both individual support and small-group class to students looking to improve their academic skills in Math and Science from Grades K-12. We are located on UBC campus and Vancouver City.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Working one-to-one and in a small group with students
• Creating/preparing materials to make the curriculum interesting and engaging
• Filing reports on the progress of students and tutoring sessions
• Seeking and responding to feedback from students and our staff

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in teaching North American maths competitions (e.g, CEMC Waterloo Maths contests, Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge,AMC contests, etc.) is a must
• Willingness to work in person is preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skill in English is a must
• Previous experience in working with high school students is preferred
• Ability to professionally interact with students
• Additional language(s) spoken is an asset (Mandarin, etc.)
• High school teaching experience is a plus

BLUBC Specific Requirements

• Had at least 2-year experience of teaching North American mathematics contest; had students who achieved outstanding performance in previous contests is preferred
• Be able to create a specific course outline for students.
• Be able to assign relevant homework to students after each class and to check them on time.
• Be able to provide assessments (either in a test format or written feedback) for students regularly
• Be able to communicate with BLUBC education consultants regularly regarding students’ performances
• Be able to follow the policies, regulations, and procedures of BLUBC

Salary: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
