Position Summary
The Canadian Sport Institute Pacific is currently looking for a Senior Manager, People & Culture as a key member of our senior management team. Based out of our Victoria campus the Senior Manager, People & Culture will be responsible for a range of duties enabling the HR department to deliver best practices and strategic HR solutions that support our organization. The Senior Manager, People & Culture will provide guidance, direction and support on matters relating to Human Resources policy & procedure and best practices and will create and deliver a culture of operational excellence and high performance. The successful team focused candidate will thrive in a fast-paced service-oriented environment and lead by example in putting the talent and well being of our employees at the forefront. In addition, they will work to foster relationships with other COPSI campuses through collaborating on knowledge growth and innovation.
Responsibilities:
HUMAN RESOURCES OVERSITE
The Senior Manager, People & Culture is responsible for providing guidance, direction and support on key matters relating to all Human Resources matters such as: Implementation of policies & procedures and best practices, including but not limited to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA), Health, Wellness & Safety of Staff, Performance Management, Employee Recognition Program, Employment Agreements, Hiring and Onboarding Process, HR Benefits, etc.
Provide human resources leadership, advice, and mentorship to CSI senior staff.
Lead hiring process, including all onboarding and offboarding.
Stay current with changes to legislations such as Human Rights Act, Privacy Act, Employment Standards, and Health and Safety legislation.
Manage CSI Pacific employment contracts for all employees and contractors including annual renewals and updates as per our Staff Framework.
Provide Human Resources Admin Lead with ongoing support in the management of the BambooHR program and leveraging the automation of BambooHR to support CSI Pacific’s various HR requirements
CREATE AND INSPIRE CULTURE
Liaise and consult with contractors on various projects, e.g. implementation of Sport Culture Index with InnerLogic
Engage with all levels of CSI to create a culture of inspirational succession planning
Monitor and track culture index results on an annual basis
Oversee CSI Pacific’s application and planning for execution for a “Great Place to Work” designation and continuous improvement
Create a platform of training and growth within new and emerging leaders in the organization
The ideal candidate would have:
A passion for creating and working in a culture focused on people and high performance
Experience with building staff engagement/ retention and a proven reputation for development and maintaining excellent working relationships
5+ years HR generalist experience or 3 years management experience in Human Resources
Experience in all areas of the employee journey at both a tactical and a strategic level
In-depth knowledge of legislation such as the Human Rights Act, Privacy Act, Employment Standards and Health and Safety legislation
Direct people (human resources) leadership experience in an environment dealing with multi-level employees from casual, FT, PT, contractors, consultants in a performance-based environment.
Post-secondary degree, preferably from an HR or business program
CPHR designation or equivalent
Working Conditions:
Full-time position (37.5 hours/week)
Variable schedule including possible weekends and evenings as required.
Primary work location at our Victoria campus, though some travel between the three CSI Pacific campuses (Victoria, Whistler & Vancouver) will be required.
