The University of Ottawa is seeking applications for the position of:
Deputy Provost, Planning and Academic Budgets
Responsibilities
As a key member of the executive team at the University of Ottawa, the Deputy Provost leads and facilitates the development of the vision and strategic direction necessary to meet the ambitious objectives set out in Transformation 2030. The Deputy Provost oversees the analysis and strategic use of institutional data to support planning, assessment, and decision-making with the aim of advancing the University’s national and global positioning. The Deputy Provost’s principal functions consist of academic and budgetary planning of faculties and services, planning and management of operational budgets, planning for academic spaces, and strategic initiatives.
The Deputy Provost is responsible for three sectors that work together in support of this position: the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, the Financial Planning Service, and the Professional Development Institute. The Deputy Provost also plays a key role in the University’s business intelligence as it relates to revenue generation.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must have a strong understanding of current issues in academic and financial planning at the post-secondary level, as well as solid university teaching and research experience in which they will have demonstrated leadership and vision. They must also have extensive management skills and excellent interpersonal skills, as well as a strong command of French and English, both spoken and written. The incumbent will be mandated to develop and implement the vision, strategies, and major axes guiding academic and financial planning at the University. This position is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced academic to apply his or her leadership skills.
Term
The position is offered for a five-year term, which is renewable in accordance with University policies and procedures.
