As the Director of Supply Chain, you are responsible for setting and leading the strategic direction of supply chain operations and the execution of operational supply chain functions. You have overall responsibility for Order Fulfillment, Warehousing, Production, Assembly, Planning, Outsourcing (3PL Warehouses), Inventory Control, strategic Vendor Partnerships and Quality Control. As the Director of Supply Chain, you are responsible for achieving order fulfillment goals, employee engagement, customer satisfaction and cost control objectives. You will report directly to the Owner/General Manager.
Responsibilities
Ensure areas of responsibility in Supply Chain Division are operating to accomplish common goals and targets to meet business needs
Lead Warehousing and Distribution to achieve order fulfillment goals
Lead the Demand Planning function to deliver excellence in ordering each component and saleable item
Lead the Assembly operations in all warehouses
Partner with Sales, Marketing and Product Development in strategic group planning for new product launches & special programs and projects
Manage strategic vendor relationships with primary and secondary vendors with a view to mitigating risk and providing quality products and components at optimal cost and service level
Lead inventory philosophy to ensure best practices and key metrics are maintained
Oversee the Work Order Management process, including software development and process improvement
Direct the Quality Control process for the business
Establish and report on key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to Supply Chain to measure performance against goals
Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement in all Supply Chain teams
Lead the development of Standard Operating Procedures and the creation of comprehensive documentation for all standard processes
Develop disaster preparation and recovery plans for the Supply Chain Division
Drive green practices throughout the global Supply Chain
Set and maintain safety requirements for Canadian Order fulfillment & assembly operations
Control the production relationship between Hungarian and North American operations and review, report, and adjust to ensure it meets with business needs
Partner with Fulfillment and Inventory Manager & General Manager to manage the relationship with outsourced warehouse facilities and Contract manufacturers, including performance measurement, trouble shooting, training, contract and rate negotiations and service level agreements
Own the global import and export process of products and componentry with particular focus on duty, tax and freight cost mitigation
Develop the Supply Chain budget and control GL accounts
Lead the business in understanding COGS and margin analysis
Analyze and implement improvements to global cost of Supply Chain operations
Drive the continuous improvement of in-house Supply Chain specific technology (order fulfillment, work order management, RFID)
Develop and implement multi-year Supply Chain strategic and project plans
Plan and implement growth responsive transformations to the fulfillment and assembly operations
Lead the expansion, renovation, or new facility setup projects to ensure resourcing capabilities for future business needs
Review and/or update Supply Chain practices in accordance with new or changing policies, standards, regulations or laws
Support the General Manager to maintain certification and accreditation for the business in all countries
Lead the Supply Chain Division during audits from Government entities (Example CBSA, FDA, Demeter, B-Corp)
Qualifications
10+ years of Supply Chain Leadership experience in a multi-national manufacturing business with a minimum of 2 years in a senior leadership role
APICS Supply Chain Designation or other Supply Chain designations preferred
Direct experience building out operations and supply chains in a growth business
Experience with implementation of ERP and/or WMS
Proven ability of designing and implementing software enhancements
Project Management certification or experience
Lean Six Sigma certification an asset
Excellent communication and exceptional leadership skills
Continuous improvement mindset to drive supply chain performance in the areas of service and inventory
Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
Expertise on leading/driving change, mentoring teams, and leading and scaling teams
Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, Access, SQL
