Hanson offers you an inspiring, fast-paced working environment with the opportunity to grow. We are hiring a Director, Human Resources to lead the “people” pillar at Hanson.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the implementation of a progressive, strategic human resource result-delivery model for continuous improvement and greater efficiency through process management.
• Lead company-wide human resources activities to help the senior leadership team achieve its goals.
• Understand the business goals and collaborate with senior leadership on a strategy to engage employees and improve productivity continuously.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and safe culture where people feel valued and inspired to do great work.
• Administer and oversee the administration of all human resource functions including but not limited to talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, performance management, talent management and development; occupational health and safety, and employee recognition, retention, and morale.
• Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
• Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
• Facilitate professional development, and training activities for employees.
• Lead the performance evaluation process by coaching department heads/managers to set SMART performance goals and improve employee performance.
• Investigate, address and resolve employee/labour relations issues, including disciplinary matters. Make decisions or effective recommendations on matters involving possible discipline and termination.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the reporting Human Resources team.

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, in Human Resources Management or a relevant field. Or Post-Graduation study in Human Resources Management.
• Minimum of 5 years of human resource management experience.
• CHRL designation or in process is an asset
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations (ESA, OHSA, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, etc.), and best practices, along with policy development and implementation.
• Self-directed approach with an ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and execute at high-level.
• Ability to be resourceful and flexible to meet the needs of the organization and the demands of the position; balancing the planning and implementation of longer-term strategy and problem-solving day-to-day issues.
• Results oriented and ethical decision-making ability.
• Flexibility in adapting to change, influencing change, and facilitating in consultative decision-making processes.
• Strong and effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills, including coaching, group facilitation, influencing and the ability to collaborate and negotiate with internal and external contacts
• Excellent written, verbal communications skills
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and HRIS.
• Team player with a client-centric mindset and positive attitude.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
