Fashion Design Instructor
Academy of Modern Art (AOMA) is a Vancouver based art education institution dedicated to transitioning art and design students to their post-secondary school of choice. We are looking for an experienced Fashion Designer, with teaching experience, who is patient, detailed-oriented, responsible and loves teaching kids and teenagers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop curriculum and deliver basic instruction in fashion design, developed for kids and teens, including fashion figure drawing (croquis sketches), fabric rendering techniques and mini-collection development,
- Develop fun fashion projects appropriate to the age group and interests;
- Take accurate attendance,
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently,
- Contribute to the development of curriculum and instructional materials, including providing a supply list for the teaching class,
- Other responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor degree in fashion design or fashion art from a well-known University or Design School
Minimum 2 years professional experience working in the industry
2 years experience teaching fashion courses, preferably to kids and teens
Have a passion for and patience with teaching kids and teens
Have an enthusiastic and positive attitude and enjoy encouraging and inspiring students to complete their fashion projects
Demonstrate a highly responsible and professional attitude towards teaching
A criminal record check is required to work with minors.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
