SCHOOL SECRETARY / LIBRARY CLERK

Hours of Work: Secretary 2.4 hrs/day (12.0 hrs/wk)
Library Clerk 1.6 hrs/day (8.0 hrs/wk)
10 Month Position
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the school principal, the successful applicant will be expected to:
Perform administrative secretarial duties including correspondence, filing, answering the telephone, etc.
Maintain student records (as required) such as: attendance, enrolments, demographics, files, master schedule, class lists and report cards using the student information system.
Perform service pertaining to financial transactions in the school, such as petty cash, accounts receivable/payable, purchase orders.
Assist with school budget preparation and updates as required.
Handle front line counter tasks relating to administrative enquiries by parents, students and public.
Maintain and regularly update school website and online information platforms.
Perform duties in a friendly, supportive, caring manner towards staff, students and visitors to the school.
Exercise discretion and confidentiality in dealing with all matters pertaining to personnel and students.
Perform other duties as required.
The LIBRARY CLERK, under the direction of the Principal or teacher, is expected to:
Shelve and repair books, periodicals and other curriculum resource materials.
Perform general library procedures.
Perform data entry to computerized library system.
Relate in a supportive, positive, encouraging manner to students of all ages.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
Must have Grade 12 or equivalent
Successful completion of post-secondary secretarial training with computers and bookkeeping.
Previous experience in a related field.
Must demonstrate strong general computer and keyboarding skills.
Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office.
Must have working knowledge of accounting principles.
Must be willing to learn new skills related to the position.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills
