Bella Bella Community School Society is looking for a compassionate and dynamic individual with confident classroom management skills to teach high school careers courses, including Career Life Education 10 and Career Life Connections 12. This position does include supporting and guiding students through grades 10-12 academic planning. Knowledge and experience with Indigenous students and the BC curriculum and graduations requirements are assets. Desired Abilities, Qualifications and Experience
Specialization and/or experience in teaching students careers at the high school level.
Knowledge and understanding of the graduation requirements in BC and knowledge of college and university application processes.
A commitment and demonstrated ability to nurture a school culture that is inclusive and focused on the learning needs of diverse learners.
Knowledge and sensitivity of BC Indigenous Peoples.
Knowledge of initiatives and promising practices with regard to Indigenous education.
Current knowledge of research driven instructional and assessment strategies.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
Able to cultivate and maintain relationships with students, staff members, parents, and the community.
Supportive of a wide variety of learning strategies.
Knowledgeable about the role of technology to support learning.
Committed to meeting the unique needs of a diverse school community.
Willing to support and engage with the SEAS (Supporting Emerging Aboriginal Stewards) program and initiatives
Innovative ideas and experience in developing and supporting a positive, safe and caring school climate.
Strong interest and capacities in extra-curricular activities.
Bella Bella Community School (BBCS) offers Preschool to Grade 12 to both Heiltsuk and non-Heiltsuk students and is accredited as a BC Ministry of Education Independent School and is certified with the First Nations Schools Association. There approximately 300 students enrolled.
Bella Bella is located on BC’s Central Coast in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest!
