Forensic Assessment & Community Services (FACS) has an exciting opportunity for a bachelor’s-level Registered Social worker. Reporting to the Care Manager of FACS, this position will act as a member of multidisciplinary teams that provide treatment services that are evidence and recovery based, aligned with best practice approaches, policy, legislation, and designated standards of practice within the context of an outpatient, forensic community mental health clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking psychosocial interventions in both group and individual formats. Competency in couples’ therapy will be considered an asset. Position responsibilities also include structured intake assessments applying formal risk assessment measures. Social Worker II will be expected to have knowledge of forensic rehabilitation and treatment principles. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in order to provide input and participation in program development, research activities, and quality improvement endeavors. This position works closely and collaboratively with community stakeholders, offering consultative and educational services as needed, along with coordination and case management planning and follow-up. This will include but is not limited to clients’ with developmental delays, acute mental health issues, and complex social needs.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must be eligible to obtain authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions. BLS required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with electronic medical records (Connect Care), virtual therapy platforms (Zoom), and comfort with Microsoft Office programs will all be considered assets. NCI. Understanding of intimate partner violence, family systems, inappropriate sexual behaviors, and legal dispositions will all be considered an asset. Experience providing couples or marital counselling in high-conflict relationship situations will also be an asset.
