HUMAN RESOURCES ADVISOR

In this hands-on role the Human Resources Advisor will carry out projects and activities in all aspects of the Human Resources function and will play an integral role in executing people initiatives, providing great internal customer support and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The incumbent supports the Cote Gold Team and reports to the Manager Human Resources. This position is a site-based position that will work on rotation.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Recruitment and Employee Engagement

• Support recruitment and selection process that drives top talent into the organization, through assisting hiring managers with job description creation and evaluation process, participation in the interview process, and preparing contracts and job offers as required.
• Conduct and coordinate all new hire orientation and lead a robust employee onboarding.
• Model organizational values, set the cultural tone and reinforce the Employee Brand.

Area 2:

Employee Relations

• Provide pro-active guidance and coaching to employees, supervisors and managers on the areas of performance counseling, policy interpretation and implementation, human rights and employment legislation, conflict resolution and legal requirements.
• Provide subject matter expertise to all employees in the areas of recruitment, compensation, pension and benefits, performance management, employee relations, career development and succession planning.
• Assist in ensuring workplace is safe and free of harassment and/or discrimination.
• Investigate team member questions/concerns/complaints and subsequently make recommendations on required actions.
• Interpret and communicate policies to managers and employees ensuring consistent, fair and efficient application.

Area 3:

Performance Management & Leadership Development

• Provide support and coaching to managers in addressing employee performance, behavioral and disciplinary issues.
• Conduct investigation and participate in progressive disciplinary actions as required.
• Provide leadership development and performance coaching.

Area 4:

HR Administration

• Provide input to the design of HR programs, policies and initiatives and ensure they are successfully implemented globally, well understood, and they support IAMGOLD’s strategy and values.
• Support and ensure execution of key HR processes such as the PMP process, key annual compliance trainings, succession planning and cash incentive program.
• Conduct research to obtain information and compiles human resources statistics regarding a variety of human resources issues. Conduct benchmarks and analysis.
• Acts as liaison for HRIS and Payroll inquiries.
• Compile training expenses and prepare necessary reports to ensure we are compliant with Quebec’s Bill 90.
• Ensure employee files are accurate by completing and submitting necessary forms and documents as well as maintaining the electronic employee files up to date.

Minimum Requirements and Nice to Haves

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

• College diploma in HR or Business-related field.

Work experience – Nature & Length

• 3 or more years of Human Resource experience.
• Experience in the mining/natural resource industry or construction/engineering is an asset.
