Position Overview
The Study Abroad Office within VP International Operations is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief International Learning Programs Advisor for approximately 18 months.
The International Learning Programs Advisor reports to the Manager, Global Learning with additional supervision and direction from the Manager, Education Abroad and Director, Global Learning. They provide preliminary advising to incoming and outgoing global learning students, as well as administrative support to the Global Learning Team and to the Director. Nonacademic advising, internal and external stakeholder collaboration, communication, student data input and tracking, organization, and general office duties are key elements.
The International Learning Programs Advisor is a primary contact for all clients working with the Global learning unit of University of Calgary International. They will provide nonacademic advising to both incoming and outgoing global learning students, making referrals to relevant stakeholders as appropriate. They will review and process applications and supplemental documentation related to global learning programs and grants, providing exceptional support to students throughout the application and participation process. They will also help facilitate a peer helper program, support marketing and promotion efforts, and perform a variety of administrative and organizational support services, ranging from complex to routine, all of which contribute to the efficient and professional operation of the unit and its programs and activities.
Regular workday is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Peak periods occur throughout the year: in September and January with the start of the school terms, in February/March for processing incoming exchange applications and in April for program registrations and pre-departure preparation.
