Intermediate Engineering Associate – Waterloo

Summary
The preferred candidate will perform structural analyses of all levels of complexity on existing communication structures and their respective foundations) and prepare formal, written reports detailing the capacities and recommendations for modifications needed to bring the structure into compliance with the applicable code. The incumbent will also prepare associated construction design, reinforcement design and/or maintenance drawing packages using AutoCAD. The incumbent may also provide quality control review of engineering services performed by other engineers.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field required.
- 3+ years of telecommunication tower drafting experience required.
- Experience completing structural analyses for a telecommunication tower considered an asset.
- Proficiency with computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and tower structural analysis software (TSTower and others) and AutoCAD.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Exhibit strong organizational skills: must have the ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
- Present strong project management skills with the ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs as needed.
- Be self-motivated and able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying high quality solutions.

Essential Functions
- Review requests for engineering services to determine that adequate information is provided to complete service.
- Review buildings, telecom structures and foundations for existing, proposed, and reserved tenant configurations.
- Perform analyses on projects of all levels of complexity using hand calculations, structural analysis software, and other accepted methods.
- Prepare construction design, reinforcement design and/or maintenance drawing packages using AutoCAD.
- Review Quality Assurance (QA) and final review on structural analysis reports
- Generate required engineering reports.
- Answer structure-related inquiries from internal and external customers.
- Ensure accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is balanced between being performed in climate-controlled internal office environment under normal office conditions and being performed externally, on-site, outdoors, with exposure to the elements of nature working under normal to extreme construction conditions.
Employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, speak, and hear.
