WANTED: Electrical Engineering Technologist – Controller Hardware & Firmware Development for Automotive Safety Devices and Aftermarket Products

We are a family-owned design and manufacturing company running development projects with international engine manufacturers as well as developing aftermarket accessories for automotive applications. We develop everything from engine brakes (diesel engine valvetrain), camshafts, solenoids, and vehicle suspension to electrical controllers and phone apps.
We are conveniently located in the Gloucester Industrial Park off the 264th exit in Langley, BC (just blocks away from Highway 1) and offer a mix of on-site and remote work.

What the job entails
Responsibilities include:
· Design of new electrical hardware and software as well as troubleshooting existing products
· Planning and delivery of schedules and expected project costs
· Peer review and development gate sign-offs
· Providing direction to the engineering team
· Resource planning participation
· Risk reduction through verification and validation activities including generation and execution of test plans (simulation, bench, field and dyno testing), as well as keeping a current Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
· Reporting status to stakeholders/keeping collaborators updated

Skills/attributes you possess:
· Skilled in circuit board, firmware, harness, and motor control design
· Proficient with electrical hardware and software design tools
· Familiar with automotive industry and products
· Able to work with minimal supervision
· Able to adapt to on-the-fly changes and “roll with the punches”
· Excellent communication skills
· Able to identify and remain focused on high-level goals

· C/C++/Assembler embedded programming AVR
· Atmel studio 6.2
· RS232 communication

· Motion control for stepped/brush DC/brushless DC motors
· LabVIEW
· Electronic design (schematic, PCB layout, fabrication)
· Electronic testing/validation
· Digital multimeter
· Oscilloscope
· PLC
