Job Description
Overview:
Reporting to the Director, CS&L, the Manager, Warehousing & Logistics leads the development and implementation of warehousing, transportation and logistics strategies to support the company’s growth goals in the Cannabis industry. This position is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of transportation and warehouse activities at Sundial Growers.
This position will be based out of the Calgary Warehouse, but 20% will be spent in the field at Sundial’s Olds location.
Reporting Relationships and Contacts
Reports to: Director, CS&L
Directs: Warehousing Analyst, Logistics Analysts, Shipper/Receivers
Internal Relationships: Commercial, Procurement, Inventory Control, Planning & Production
External Relationships: External suppliers/vendors, Third party service providers
Scope of Role:
- Own the safety prioritization and strategy across the warehousing and logistics functions, and integrate safety into mentorship with teams
- Ownership of the root to market distribution of recreational finished products from shipping to the end consumer
- Develop and monitor business KPIs and data for the areas of responsibility including on-time delivery, fill rate, error-tracking, receiving metrics, transportation cost per gram & capacity metrics.
- Lead by a mindset of adaptation and continuous improvement.
- Lead all intercompany and outbound material movement.
- Maintain contingency plans for time sensitive operations (unscheduled absentees, customer issues, systems malfunctions, inventory exceptions, transport challenges)
- Determine and maintain the required strategic alliances to meet our logistical needs
- Collaborate with peers across the company to share best practices and maintain compliance
- Develop, maintain, and confirm process are run in accordance with SOPs and other documentation and best practices
- Ensure quality service to consumers by exceeding customer shipping requirements within the established time frame, and by communicating to internal contacts any issues that may impact customers
- Identify and exploit opportunities for improvement using analytics and performance metrics
- Lead day to day warehousing operations and support Warehouse Analyst as required with inbound / outbound inventory, cycle counts, system inventory movements / postings / reconciliations & vacation coverage
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or other related discipline would be considered an asset
- 5 -8 years of varied and relevant experience across supply chain functions
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading teams
- Change management and continuous improvement program experience
- Previous experience in the cannabis industry is an asset
Required Competencies:

- Forklift operating license and experience would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence the thinking and actions of others
