Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Construction Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the Walters Field Services Division (WFS) by ensuring accurate information on time. This includes assisting in Pre-Site Preparation, planning, and Tracking ‘Work in Progress’ – as well as recommending areas for efficiency and improvement.
Main responsibilities will include:
Document Control for WFS assigned projects (technical, site sequencing, and reporting)
Travels to nearby project sites to ensure paperwork project site administration is being completed accurately and to address any questions or concerns on site as required.
Produces labour cost report (LCR) and monitors progress benchmarking the actuals against the estimates. Reports are forwarded to the Project Manager.
Responds to questions and concerns by Site Superintendents and Field personnel by providing recommendations and/or referring high level matters to the Manager or VP Construction.
Trains Supervisors in SOP’s and Field Tracking.
Provides WFS construction engineer with accurate and complete drawings for approval process and maintain the related file, (WFS Drawings, Detail Drawings for Fabrication, Client views).
Manage the WFS Design/Fabrication Assets File and Track the related hardware in conjunction with the WFS Equipment Manager/Supervisor.
Responds to equipment and resource inquiries by engineering, production, sales and Field Stores regarding project requirements. This is done in conjunction with WFS Construction Engineer as the sponsor. Produces crane & rigging plans using 3D lift planner software.
Required
Completion of an Architectural Technology program or Construction related Engineering program.
A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience with exposure to Structural Steel erection or metal fabrication
Valid drivers’ license
Ability to travel to Project Sites on regular basis or as required.
Competencies
Knowledge in structural steel fabrication, connections and erection practices
Knowledge of Construction Site Safety and H&S Legislation
Understanding of Field timings; how long it takes to complete different aspects of the build
Knowledge of Field Equipment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Project
Ability to be flexible, multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong Organization Skills with an ability to juggle manage multiple
Interpersonal Skills
A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively and professional with peers and other associates inside and outside Walters in a collegial, yet demanding, work environment
