As our new Intermediate Accountant, you’ll bring your keen financial eye to the day-to-day accounting process, and contribute your business acumen to other financial projects. You’ve tried your hand at accounting before, working as part of a team, and are eager to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment, helping the business scale through its next phase of growth. You are keen to take on new challenges, step outside your comfort zone, and are continually looking for opportunities to learn and add value.
We think that this role will speak to you if you are in the early stages of your accounting and finance career, are comfortable taking on projects and tasks outside the normal day-to-day requirements, and are looking for a long-term home to really hone your skills.
What You Will Be Doing
Verify the completeness and accuracy of accounts
Create and maintain continuity schedules
Analyze variances across balance sheet and income statement accounts
Assist in the preparation of the internal financial analysis, management accounts and ad hoc analysis
Assist with all external audit requirements
Oversee day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities of the company
Assist with customer billing, including preparation and posting of invoices
Process, review and reconcile all credit card transactions, vendor invoices, and employee expenses in NetSuite and Expensify
Complete bank and credit card statement reconciliation
Assist with and learn month-end close procedures and other financial reporting deliverables including balance sheet reconciliations.
Perform ad-hoc tasks and assist with projects to support the Finance team, including financial analysis and key performance indicator monitoring
About You
Educated. You have a degree or diploma in accounting, finance or other related field and either hold a CPA designation, or in the process of attaining it.
Experienced. While we will give you every opportunity to learn, we hope you’ll be coming in with at least one to two years of prior accounting experience in either professional services or a large-sized corporate environment.
Solid communication. Whether it is written or verbal, people know what you mean, what you are asking for, and what is expected.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Team-player. While you are comfortable handling your own work, you’re keen to be part of a team, and contributing to the success of the overall business.
Eager. You’re self-motivated and willing to own tasks and deliverables, and always open to taking on new challenges.
Organized. You can handle multiple deliverables and multiple deadlines, clearly understanding what is required of you and managing expectations.
Discretion. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme caution with sensitive information.
Modern. You seek out ways to create efficiency and solve business problems through the use of technology. You’re a natural with the usual Microsoft Suite of technologies, particularly Excel, and are excited to develop your skills with NetSuite, Zone Advanced Billing and Expensify.
