The Opportunity – FLY IN/FLY OUT, CAMP PROVIDED – Automotive Service Technician (HVAC)

MFM LP, a Mikisew Group company, is currently seeking skilled and qualified candidates for the position of Automotive Service Technician (AST)/Light Duty Mechanic to join our operation at Kearl Lake. This position will require the candidate to work in the field. Responsibilities will include performing installation, repairs, and maintenance of HVAC systems on mobile mining equipment (Automotive style HVAC). This position is located at Kearl (IOL).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform repair work and routine maintenance on light duty vehicles and equipment,
  • Check light duty equipment such as light duty trucks, vans, cars and support equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
  • Complete service reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Position is at our Kearl Lake facility., located North of Fort McMurray. The work schedule is 14 days on, 14 days off, 11.5 hours per day. Work is conducted under an Hours of Work Averaging Arrangement (HWAA) – formerly known as a Compressed Work Week. This is a Fly In/Fly Out opportunity with camp/accommodations provided. Airfare travel hubs are Edmonton & Calgary, with direct flights to site. Workers are responsible for travel to/from the travel hubs and their residence.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Automotive Service Technician (AST), Light Duty Technician Certification
    • Red Seal Certification preferred
  • First Aid Certification preferred
  • 5 years’ experience working in a light duty automotive facility servicing light vehicles and support equipment.
