Accounting Clerk, Glooscap First Nation/Glooscap Ventures

Location: 159 Smith Road, Glooscap 35, Hantsport NS

Salary range: $40,000 – $45,000 per year depending on experience – 5 days a week, 8.30 am – 4 pm, with Friday working from home.

The Accounting Clerk reports directly to the Director of Finance and is responsible for assisting with monitoring and reporting of the financial affairs of Glooscap First Nation and Glooscap Ventures. The successful candidate will work closely with managers and be an integral member of the Finance team. The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent teamwork skills, and have a positive approach to change and communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Month end accounting (bank reconciliations, recurring entries, HST returns, etc.)
• Manage the Accounts Receivable function
• Enter sales data for both convenience store locations – analyze and monitor sales issues
• Perform weekly cash analysis for business entities
• Manage the weekly cheque run/EFT process
• Act as backup for the payroll function
• Assist with the yearly external audit, including providing information as required
• General ledger maintenance
• Various finance, accounting, and analysis related projects

Experience, Education, Knowledge and Skills:

• College Accounting Certificate and/or University degree in commerce, or equivalent experience will be considered
• Experience handling accounting for retail operations or convenience stores an asset
• Experience with full-cycle accounting
• Experience with Sage accounting software
• Ability to work in a high-pace environment with high attention to detail
