This position is responsible for providing courteous and efficient customer service in the sale of food, beverages, and goods at campus cafeterias, markets and bakeshops.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Operates POS as per established cash, debit and credit handling procedures. Ensures all products are correctly priced and maintains the smooth flow of customer traffic.
Maintains current and extensive knowledge of all goods sold and educates customers on student production and goods including coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea, food and merchandise.
Places supply order requisitions with the central storeroom utilizing inventory management software. Participates in quarterly inventory counts.
Restocks refrigerated displays, shelves and service stations as required. Merchandises products in an organized, attractive manner to encourage sales and maintains cleanliness of the display areas as per established procedures.
Prepares and packages items for sale including fresh baked goods, ready to eat food products, and fresh fruit and vegetables.
Ensures all service and preparation areas and equipment are kept organized, clean, and in good working order in accordance with HACCP principles.
Performs and records daily temperature and sanitizer checks.
Cleans and sanitizes cafeteria tables and removes customer trays.
May assist with catering events including preparing and delivering food and beverages and assisting with dismantling and clean up.
Provides coverage for dishwashing when needed.
Wears uniform supplied while on duty.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Grade 10, plus up to 1 year additional vocational or specialized training in a food services environment and over 3 months’ related experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.

Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and the general public.
Good customer service skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or stress.
Experience in handling cash and operating an electronic cash register and/or computerized Point of Sale system.
Ability to balance and record cash payments for the purpose of daily sales report preparation.
Knowledge of the College’s culinary program and the products for sale.
Good communication skills and good working knowledge of the English language.
Neat personal appearance and good hygiene.
Stellar attendance and punctuality.
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
Market and Bakeshop
Brews, grinds and prepares coffee, espresso-based drinks and teas according to established procedures.
Performs dishwashing and general cleaning duties.
Salary Range – Prorated based on FTE
PAYGRADE 14: $20.43 to $23.35 hourly, plus payment in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays.
