The Opportunity

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)’s Safety & Emergency Management team has an exciting opportunity for a student to join the team in an administrative support role. The team is comprised of driven and collaborative individuals who work to protect the health and safety of Albertans, and we are looking for someone who shares this passion, and who is also interested in expanding their knowledge and gaining experience to develop the skills you need to build an exciting career in health, safety, and emergency management. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized individual who is able to work collaboratively, is detail-oriented, and has strong problem-solving skills. This role provides support to the AER’s Safety & Emergency Management team by assisting in the integration of electronic resources into our current processes, as well as new projects and initiatives focused on continuous improvement.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and update team, project, and group SharePoint pages as well as external website resources.

• Support modernization efforts of existing software systems, such as D4H, Intelex, Archibus, etc.

• Assist in optimizing internal document management and record keeping systems.

• Collect, catalogue, and update health, safety and emergency management procedures and processes.

• Assist in transitioning legacy files to newer, more efficient, and effective systems.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Public Safety, Project Management, or Business programs at an accredited post-secondary institution.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.

• Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Software programs, particularly Excel and SharePoint.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Strong team player able to establish, build, and maintain relationships to enhance and streamline project success.

Additional Requirements and Information:

• This position is a full-time summer student position which is expected to last approximately 4 months.

• Proof of enrollment in a registered institution and returning to studies following this placement will be a condition of hire.

• All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.
