JOB DESCRIPTION

The goal of this position is to help our RVT’s work efficiently as well as aid the team in patient care (walking, feeding), running diagnostics, patient restraint and keeping the workplace clean, organized and stocked

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate the following skills (but not limited to):

• Appropriate handling of sample collection, as well as using and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Assist in diagnostic procedures, including radiographs
• Setting up IV fluid bags/lines
• Fill prescriptions
• Animal handling/restraint (including difficult or fractious patients)
• Aid with patient care including cleaning, walking and feeding
• Help to maintain client/patient records/billing/estimates
• Respect and protect the confidentiality of client and patient information.
• Be efficient and calm when helping in emergency situations.
• Help to answer the phones
• Participate in rounds to ensure continuity of care for patients.
• Approach other members of the ER team looking for ways to help
• Ensure cleanliness of facility including cleaning kennels, laundry, mopping and cleaning of hospital (lobby, exam rooms, treatment areas, etc).

REQUIREMENTS

• Veterinary assistant course. One year of experience as Client Administrator, Receptionist or customer service related job. Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer proficiency required.
• Ability to organize and multi-task
• Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the veterinary team and interact professionally with clients.
• Ability to learn and take direction from other members of the veterinary team
• Availability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays
