The SHC is more than just a ‘Hospital’. It is a campus environment which includes outpatient, inpatient, and wellness services featuring an on-site YMCA for staff. The SHC has four key foundational pillars underpinning our approach to the design of the building, service models and our ways of being. Namely, the SHC is committed to Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centred Care and Innovation. These pillars guide the delivery of service to all patients and families at the SHC. Reporting to the SHC Site Director, the Casual Site Manager performs a leadership role in providing direction, team leadership and organization of capacity management at the SHC. As a member of the SHC Site Manager team, this Casual position will provide Site Manager coverage for a minimum of 4 shifts per month, as well as provide coverage to support full time Site Manager vacation, education and sick leave as required.
Promoting and enhancing positive working relationships with Managers and Charge Nurses/Nurse Clinicians across the Site in support of optimizing patient flow through bed coordination and the management of timely discharges. Proactively assessing and managing site capacity demands in consultation and collaboration with Management Teams, Charge RNs/Nurse Clinicians, Transition Services, Admitting, Clinical Support Services, Bed Placement Office, IPC, RAAPID, and Physicians. Provides leadership in the initiation and management of overcapacity escalation protocols established for the SHC as well as, when required, Calgary Zone Levelling. Provides direction to Bed Placement Coordinators related to placement priority of patient admissions from a site wide perspective. The role also provides clinical leadership related to the development of action plans and strategies to manage over capacity in collaboration with clinical departments.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a post-secondary university degree or diploma in Nursing required. Active registration with CRNA required. 4-5 years of progressive Leadership experience in an Acute Care environment, including experience in a management role. Proven ability to effectively lead teams. Experienced and successful communicator. Self-directed and independent approach to completing tasks as well as the ability to work well within a team environment.
