Student, Business Systems Analyst

The Opportunity
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Business Solutions Architecture team is leading several activities to help mature the Enterprise Architecture practice of the organization. We have an opportunity to utilize a student’s skillset to collaborate and contribute to the steps our team is taking toward our vision of Business and Technology alignment by documenting and mapping capabilities, attending sessions, capturing decisions, and bringing ideas for process improvements and automation.
The role requires an analytical and creative individual that is passionate about growing a career in the IT world and has an interest in understanding a company’s end-to-end architecture and technology landscape, as well as the governance processes in place.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Well-organized taking notes and updating documentation systems-related, processes-related, and business-related

• Active, dynamic, and curious participant in discussions

• Presentation skills are required to deliver and expose ideas

• Comfortable using business and technical terminology

• Key collaborator with other members to contribute to the maturity of AER’s Enterprise Architecture practice

• Responsible for completing the deliverables assigned

• Communicate insights and potential issues to other members of the team

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in Business Administration or related discipline

• Knowledge of MS Office, MS Teams, or similar tools

• Technical background is an asset

• Previous experience in a similar position is an asset

• Previous Oil and Gas experience is an asset

Additional Requirements and Information:

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Motivated, self-starter, curious and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment

• Interested in new technology and process improvements to complement the existing team

• Team player with the willingness to learn from constructive feedback

• This position is a full-time summer student position which is expected to last approximately 4 months.

• Proof of enrollment in a registered institution and returning to studies following this placement will be a condition of hire.
