Do you enjoy working with children? Are you reliable, patient, energetic, and enthusiastic, with terrific play skills? Are you looking for flexible, part-time hours? Families across the lower mainland are in need of dedicated Behaviour Interventionists (BI’s or Lead BI’s) to join our home-based ABA teams working with young children with autism and other developmental delays. Although experience is preferred, specific BI experience is not always a requirement, if you are the right fit (you should have some experience working with children). This job provides excellent experience for those looking to become Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Early Childhood Educators, Education Assistants, or Behaviour Consultants. A background or current coursework in one of these related fields is an asset. Compensation is based on experience (typically $20-$30 per hour, to start). You must be at least 19 years old, be able to provide a recent criminal record check, and be willing to commit for at least one year. Behaviour Interventionists (BI’s) are always in very high demand across the lower mainland!
You will receive on the job training from the Behaviour Consultant, who is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). The BCBA will also provide ongoing support and training. This is a part-time position with flexible hours – you decide how many sessions per week you want to and which positions you wish to apply for, based on the family’s location and hours of availability. BI sessions are typically 2 – 2.5 hours in length, 2-4 times per week (actual times vary), and you can work with multiple families. There are also monthly team meetings, which are often held remotely, on Zoom. Most sessions will take place in the child’s home, or perhaps a daycare or preschool classroom, or out in the community, so there may be some additional travel involved, depending on how many clients you choose to work with. Early behaviour intervention is often implemented within play activities and typical daily routines, like snacks, dressing, outdoor play, hand-washing, etc. You’ll be working on goals related to speech and language, social skills, play, imitation, fine motor, self-help, emotional regulation, and academics (reading, writing, math).
If interested, please email your resume and include your days/hours of availability, your location or the area(s) you’d like to work in, and the number of hours you’d like to work each week. You can also email us for more information.
