This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new Mental Health Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) clinic at Rockyview General Hospital, as a Health Care Aide – Mental Health rTMS Clinic Technician. rTMS Clinic is a service made up of a patient and family centered multidisciplinary team, focusing on a culture and expectation of relentless work ethic, positivity, constant proactive patient and colleague collaboration, and an emphasis on team. rTMS is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation used to treat mental health disorders. Under the supervision of and in consultation with the Manager and the Psychiatry Clinical Lead, the rTMS Technician is an unregulated provider responsible for the administration of rTMS treatments to patients according to established standards, practices and evidence-based clinical protocols. A Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for rTMS Technician supervision, assignment of care and ongoing evaluation of care. The rTMS Technician is responsible to follow the treatment protocol and plan using their knowledge, skills and abilities to provide safe and competent care. The rTMS technician will request guidance from the Health Care Professional when they need assistance. The rTMS Technician is an assertive, proactive individual, with a strong foundation in mental health, and possesses the ability to respectfully interact in a wide range of challenging circumstances. The rTMS Technician also excels at working in a collaborative, fast-paced, positive team environment that requires excellent observation, assessment, prioritization, conflict resolution, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Knowledge and adherence to AHS policies, procedures, code of conduct, and applicable acts governing patient care and privacy, is a requirement of the individual maintaining the position.


Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Previous experience in the area of mental health. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to respond during an emergency. Ability to recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient status. Desire and ability to work with addictions and mental health population in respectful manner at all times. Compassionate approach to others. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written English. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication and conflict resolution skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members. Effective organizational and time management skills. Expertise in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other IT related programs. Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) training.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in providing rTMS treatments. Clinical Knowledge & Content Management of rTMS standards & protocols. Ability to deal with highly sensitive & confidential manners. Excellent judgment & critical thinking skills.
