As a Software Designer you will be exposed to the development, customization, and execution of the control systems for several of Husky’s automated machinery products. As a controls software designer, you will be involved in the electrical and software design and development of automated machine sequences, process control, and user interfaces in a highly energized and creative work environment.

The focus will be to:

• Design software control systems for automated machinery applications including servo drive, servo hydraulics, and injection molding process control.
• Software development of machine sequences (PLC IEC 6-1131), process control, human/machine interface in Windows XP environment.
• Customize existing software logic (PLC) and user interface (HMI) to meet customers’ requirements
• Electrical design involving Industrial PCs, digital servo drives, fieldbuses, hydraulic power units and heat control
• Experience with AC/DC servo drive technologies, PC based controls, distributed/centralized input/output hardware and industrial bus technologies (Profibus, Sercos, Ethernet)
• Create automated procedures to assist machine testing, in addition to automated tools
• Release new product designs including detailed execution
• Troubleshoots and debug software

Skills and Abilities

• A strong desire to learn about control systems and automation.
• A flexible team player with a strong sense of ownership, coupled with technical experience and ‘out-of-the-box’ creativity
• Exposure to Windows programming and understanding of dot.Net Framework
• Experience working with any Real Time system is an asset
• Experience working with large automated machinery is an asset
• Knowledge of international codes/standards OSHA, NFPA, CSA, EN, and IEC is an asset
• Experience designing and building machines with a focus on manufacturability is an asset

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Programming using C, C#, C++ and Visual Basic for real-time control
• Troubleshooting, debugging of control systems
• Ability to read electrical schematics
• A Team player and a self-starter
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
