Alberta Services is currently looking for a Medical Physicist Assistant (MPA) to join our Radiation Medicine Program at the Central Alberta Cancer Center (CACC), a state-of-the-art regional cancer facility established just over a decade ago. Reporting to the Director of Medical Physics for Community Oncology this exciting role will be a key contributor to the Oncology team. Importantly, you support Medical Physicists in the planning, delivery, and quality assurance of innovative Cancer therapies like Stereotactic Body Radiation. The MPA will assist with the ongoing development, documentation, reporting and review of procedures relating to these treatment devices. The successful MPA will be provided with unique opportunities to collaborate in clinical investigations and related research. As a Medical Physicist Assistant, you will be responsible for working alongside a Medical Physicist within the identified area. You will assist the Medical Physicist to ensure equipment within the area is fully functioning, this includes performing the full range of quality control checks on medical devices administered by the Medical Physicist and reviewing procedures related to radiotherapy and/or diagnostic imaging devices. You will also provide research support and assist with training students as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a bachelor’s of Science in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline from a recognized university.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory as well as excellent general computer skills including MS Office (including Excel, Word, Power Point), and MATLAB and general measurement and error analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a radiation therapy environment is also preferred, but training will be provided for suitable candidates. Current or potential graduate students who may have an interest in pursuing a medical physics career are particularity encouraged to apply.
