In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, the Learning Solutions Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of media services such as photography and video production for the design of educational materials. Designs and produces educational materials, and assists in the administration and support of activities contributing to the implementation of education programs and projects within BC Emergency Health Services.
What you’ll do
- Performs a variety of media services such as photography, video/film production and animation for the design of educational materials. Designs, illustrates, and produces materials for publication.
- Maintains and updates databases to ensure effective retrieval of data and facilitate consistent application of BCEHS educational policies and procedures across programs.
- Provides logistical support to educational programs such as booking rooms, arranging equipment, preparing meeting agendas and taking notes when required.
- Receives work requests for graphic design of text provided by users; receives instruction as to the purpose, design concept, intended audience and/or distribution method of the document.
- Assists in creating test designs, and manages the BCEHS educational design database.
- Provides administrative support to members of the Learning Design team by scheduling meetings, updating meeting changes and confirming meetings with attending parties when required.
- Composes formats and proofreads technical and non-technical material such as course materials, correspondence, reports, lists and forms from written drafts by utilizing various word processing and spreadsheet software packages.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties such as answering department telephone, redirecting incoming calls and taking messages. Responds to requests for information via telephone and electronic mail.
- Provides document management by registering, opening, updating, combining and closing files as required and organizing documents and creating new volumes of files.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What you bring
Qualifications
- Grade 12, graduation from a recognized course in photography or media resources plus three years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
