MAC Coordinator
Reporting to the MAC Society Board of Directors, ensures that the MAC programs and services are functioning as required.
Position Summary
The MAC Coordinator reports to the Board of the My Artist’s Corner Society, BC, and is responsible for the day to day coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation of all MAC programs.
Responsibilities include:
· Recruiting, training and overseeing volunteers and contract staff instructors.
· Providing limited support in mental health situations, carrying out preliminary assessments and referring to Clubhouse staff as appropriate.
· Involving MAC members in all aspects of MAC programming (shows, classes, presentation projects, personal artistic development goals, artistic education goals, maintenance of equipment / supplies / venues).
· Ensuring a safe and respectful program environment.
· Promoting the MAC program in the mental health community.
· Meeting obligations of any contractual agreement between CMHA and MACS.
The Program runs Tuesdays and Fridays, 11am to 4pm.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Orientate and facilitate member participation in programs;
· Create an environment which meets the goals of the program, promotes effective communication between all partners, and promotes problem-solving within the program;
· Assist members to develop any transferable skills, particularly in the artistic area and to set attainable artistic goals for themselves;
· Assist members to participate in community activities and volunteer work by helping them to maximize their strengths, develop and/or maintain skills, abilities, and personal supports;
· Create opportunities within the MAC program which will reduce isolation, increase self-esteem, and establish social and support networks;
· Plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate educational programs and group activities, including the recruitment of contract staff instructors;
· Plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate shows / sales / displays, and fundraisers.
· Promote the MAC program in the mental health community and, in collaboration with the Board, in the community at large;
· Collaborate with the Board to plan & implement fundraisers
· Maintain current and accurate documentation regarding financial records and statistical information as required;
· Ensure appropriate levels of supplies, equipment;
· Ensure appropriate levels of ECHO clubhouse cleanliness and fire safety are maintained;
· Maintain current knowledge of and comply with all organizational policies and standards as outlined in the policy and procedures manual, health & safety manual, job description and other documentation;
· Maintain collaborative working relationships with the ECHO Clubhouse Staff;
· Establish and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers, members and other professionals;
· Collaborate and liaise with artists & other professionals and community service organizations as needed;
· Attend work related in-services and staff meetings as required;
· Conduct research as required for planning & implementation of MAC Programs;
· Recruit, train, supervise, direct and evaluate volunteers and contract staff instructors;
· Ensure all documentation (reports, HR forms, payroll submissions etc.) is completed accurately and on time;
· Monitor and maintain program budget, ensuring spending falls within approved levels, and report as required to the MAC Board of Directors;
· Prepare and distribute monthly newsletter;
· Lead monthly members’ meetings;
· Complete First-Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, FoodSafe, and Suicide Awareness Training and/or any other training as deemed appropriate by the employer;
· Evaluate and report program goals to the ECHO Clubhouse Team Leader and MAC Board of Directors semi-annually and annually;
· Meet obligations of any contractual agreement between CMHA and MACS;
· Financial: Under the supervision (guidance) of the MACS Treasurer and/or Finance Committee,
· Monitor and maintain program budget, ensuring spending falls within approved levels, and report as required to the MAC Board of Directors;
· Tally the activity in Fees, Sales and petty cash
· Prepare and make bank deposits
· Provide month end documentation to accounting staff/volunteer so they can complete monthly and annual financial statements
· Make monthly and annual reports to the MACS Board
· Ensure all documentation (reports, HR forms, payroll submissions etc.) is completed accurately and on time;
· Other related duties as appropriate and required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience and Education
· BA or Diploma in Mental Health, Therapeutic Recreation, Child/Youth Studies or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience; or
· Minimum one year experience in supervising contract staff and volunteers in a psychiatric rehabilitation setting; or
· Minimum one year experience in programming recreation/leisure for a multicultural/diverse population; or
· Minimum one year experience working with adults who have mental illness in a rehabilitation setting; or
· Previous experience supporting people with chronic mental illness or concurrent disorders;
· Required; Lived experience with mental health issues.

· Ability to understand financial statements and development of budgets.
· Artistic practice, including ability to provide some artistic instruction.
Desirable
· Ability to identify and advocate for needed supports and resources
· Familiarity with, and ability to implement, Psychosocial Rehabilitation principles fostering a belief in the recovery process
· Ability to develop program related reference & resource material
· Ability to manage emergencies/crisis in a calm and effective manner taking all precautionary measures
· Mediation & facilitation skills.
Other
· Possession of a valid BC class IV driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle during working hours is an asset. ‘Driving for business’ coverage will be required.

Part-time hours: 18 per week
Salary: $20.00 per hour
