Description:
The Manager, External Financial Reporting & Tax (“Manager”) coordinates and oversees corporate external reporting and tax related matters. This role is responsible for ensuring monthly financial reporting is accurate and timely, ensures that all corporate accounting is thorough and meets or exceeds audit requirements, and ensures that all tax compliance matters are met.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Financial reporting deliverables

Leading the monthly external reporting process to ensure reliable, timely, and accurate consolidated financials

Review of balance sheet month-end reconciliations and working papers
-
Direct involvement with external auditors and facilitating audit requests

Direct involvement with various complex and emerging accounting related matters
-
Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements, as well as related material for board reporting
-
Subject matter expert in accounting principles
Tax compliance and planning

Ensuring statutory tax requirements are met, including coordinating legal entity financials and working with external tax advisors on tax filings

Tax planning to help support optimal tax structures and intercompany charges

Researching and supporting advisement on key and emerging tax issues
Other

Hiring, training, coaching and retaining skilled accounting staff

Involvement in various finance related projects from time to time
Key Relationships

Reporting to: Senior Director, Corporate Financial Controller

Responsible for a Team of financial accountants
-
Works closely with other finance and accounting managers and staff
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must Have:
-
Professional accounting designation CA, CGA OR CPA
-
Minimum 6 years’ financial experience, including at least 5 years post-designation with consolidations, intercompany, analyzing financial statements under ASPE and GAAP
-
2+ years of Tax experience consists of corporate taxation, tax compliance, tax returns, regulatory filings
-
2+ years of management experience – this role will have 2 direct reports ( senior accountants), 2 indirect reports (2 junior accountants)

Experience improving financial processes and controls

Experience and ability to adapt in a rapidly growing and changing business
