Purpose
Global Payment Operations (GPO) is a sub-department within Financial Accounting & Reporting department of Global Finance division. GPO oversees the external vendor and internal employee payments of the Bank in Canada, UK, and US. GPO manages vendor and employee payments in accordance with Expense policies; vendor set up; quality assurance of employee expenses; and specific accounting functions including expense accruals, intercompany charge-back or expense allocation, recoverable, account reconciliation and attestations. GPO collaborates with the Expense Management team of each business line and provides analytics and information to support the budget process and business strategies.
The Senior Manager role reports to Director, GPO, and will manage the accounting team responsible for expense accruals, intercompany expense allocation, recoverable, account reconciliation, attestation, and reporting. The incumbent will assist the other two senior managers during operational peak times and provide coverage during absences. The incumbent may also be required to support the Director in matters pertaining to optimization projects and initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide leadership and support to Global Payment Operations team with focus on achievement of department’s objectives, high performance/employee engagement and excellent customer service.
Promote the Bank’s culture by building diverse and inclusive teams. Conduct all activities in accordance with the Bank’s values and code of conduct.
Responsible for regular review and update of GPO’s SOX 122 RCM and Key Controls documentations. Monitor existing controls against ongoing risks to determine if new or enhance controls are required. Design and implement new or improved procedures and processes.
The incumbent will be the main contact for SOX 122 RCM Audit and other audit engagements for a wide range of accounting functions in GPO. Ensure timely closure / remediation of audit issues or SOX control weaknesses.
Ensure reasonability and integrity in reporting of expenses by conducting meaningful and relevant analytics. Be able to communicate results to stakeholders promptly with recommended solution and accounting entries to correct any errors in financial information.
Ensure timely involvement and adherence to compliance requirements (e.g., AML, Anti-bribery/Anti-corruption, Third party risk management and Contract management).
Assist the Director and two Senior Managers in managing and directing all operational activities performed in GPO Toronto and Global Business Service Bogota.
Assist the Director in managing multiple Accounts Payable optimization projects and initiatives.
Experience / Education:
Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
5-10 years’ experience in Banking/Financial industry or in Finance department of public corporations
5 years’ experience as Manager/Senior Manager in Accounting/Finance department setting.
Must possess or exhibit knowledge and application of five core competencies at a Manager/Senior Manager level: Customer Focus, Results focus, Self-Awareness and Personal Development, Developing and Coaching Talent, and Curiosity.
