Matrix is hiring Steamfitter/ Pipefitters for a permanent, full-time position for our client in Calgary, AB. These positions are responsible for laying out, assembling and fabricating piping in a shop environment. The pay rate is $40/hr. Our client specializes in welding, fabrication and manufacturing of multiple products primarily for the Oil & Gas Industry within Western Canada.
Shift Details:
- Monday-Friday.
- 8 AM-4 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, assemble and install pipes, valves and fittings.
- Strong blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings.
- Ability to read metric and imperial.
- Experience fitting on a bench in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Oxy/acetylene cutting experience.
- Comfortable using 5” and 6” grinders.
- Join pipe sections, and related equipment and secure in position.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Experience with pressure vessels would be an asset.
Qualifications:
- Physical strength, stamina and the use of proper lifting techniques are required to manage heavy materials and stand for long periods.
- Manual dexterity.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand complex instructions.
- Ability to do careful and exacting work.
- Able to read drawings.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines when dealing with dangerous equipment.
- Good numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work in shifts and/or overtime.
- Valid license.
Education and Experience:
- Alberta Journeyman Certificate.
