We are currently seeking a high energy, self-motivated professional to join our team as Systems Administrator II. This position is responsible for supporting the operations of Pelican International, by managing systems, maintenance, develop, upgrade, and deploy capabilities to support users. The position is also responsible for supporting technical design, architectural and strategy development.

YOUR DAY IN THIS POSITION:

  • Install, configure, manage Windows servers hosted in a VMWare environment
  • Install, configure, manage data center infrastructure (servers, storages, networks, switches, Wi-Fi controller, etc.)
  • Install, configure, manage services including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Ensure the integrity of data storage and backup systems
  • Maintain and support a Cybersecurity strategy and tools deployments (End-point protestation, patch management, firewall rules, etc.)
  • Configure and maintain monitoring of all network assets and routes (LAN/WAN equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points)
  • Provision and configure the required software on web and databases servers
  • Support computing resources by ensuring hardware, OS (Operating System), security and software patches are tested and installed in a timely manner
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify solutions and work with the development team to implement those fixes
  • Monitor and correct critical server issues and create recovery processes for failures and performance bottlenecks
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Responsible for Office365 administration
  • Create and maintain infrastructure and network documentation
  • Serves as backup for staff helpdesk and support administrator on as-needed basis
  • May act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
  • All other duties as assigned

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education is preferred
  • 4-6 years professional experience in a similar role
  • Relevant work experience in a Manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Skilled in using Linux systems
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting networks
  • Experience configuring and supporting virtual environments
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong teamwork mindset
  • Continuous improvement mindset is a must
  • Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a constantly changing work environment
  • Must be independently motivated and able to work without detailed direction
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ensure work is completed in the time frame required
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with individuals throughout all levels of the organization
  • May require 20% travel between US offices, and Canada on occasion
