The Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions leads the Province of British Columbia in efforts to improve the mental well-being and reduce substance use-related harms for all British Columbians. The ministry has overall responsibility for the development of a coherent, accessible, and culturally safe mental health and addictions system that is effective for individuals and families across the lifespan throughout the province. The Indigenous Partnerships and Wellness team is responsible for working collaboratively with Indigenous partners to support Indigenous-led solutions to mental health and substance use services; working with partners in the First Nations health governance structure; strengthening the health and wellness partnership with Métis Nation BC; providing advice across the ministry on engaging Indigenous Peoples; and leading the implementation of the United Nations of Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and government’s Declaration Act Action Plan.
The Policy Analyst role independently manages assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation.
