Our services include architecture, interior design, planning and mechanical/electrical/structural engineering for a wide variety of markets.
The Stantec Winnipeg office has an immediate need for a full-time Mechanical Engineer – EIT to become part of our dynamic team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Work in general capacity with technical knowledge of building science and mechanical systems.
Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
Work with a team to produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT, as well as in AutoCAD.
Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems across Canada using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
Produce client proposals and building investigation reports.
Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
Perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews and as-recorded drawings.
Communicate with other team members and/or clients and become familiar with Stantec standards.
Complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required by the Project Manager, Discipline Lead, or Supervisor.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experience using computer-based design software such as AutoCAD and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word and Excel); Revit experience is a definite asset.
Effective communication skills are essential, including interpersonal, verbal, and written abilities within a multi-discipline team environment.
Prior experience in the HVAC manufacturing or construction industry would be an asset.
Knowledge or familiarity with National and Manitoba Building Codes, plumbing codes, fire codes, energy codes would be considered an asset.
Knowledge or familiarity with LEED standards; knowledge of ASHRAE, ASPE and NFPA standards would be considered an asset.
Self-motivated and self-starter with a strong work ethic is a primary consideration.
Eager to learn with strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are also highly considered.
Must be well organized to be able to prioritize multiple tasks, work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
Interest/experience in the application of green engineering principles; LEED AP certification is a definite asset.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer in Training.
Minimum of 3 years of Co-Op, summer, or post graduate consulting/HVAC&R industry engineering experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
