The opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Project Development & Controls, this position is focused on centralized standardized project support which includes reporting, analytics, material coordination, PO/RO, development project coordination, project close out and scorecards.
This role is responsible for delivering clear consistent support for our Canadian Gas projects in all phases of development. The reporting done within this team enables leadership of all levels to make decisions in the best interest of the project, portfolio, and organization. This role ensures our valued vendors have the support required to be paid through our Accounts Payable systems. The analysis provided by this team enables Canada Gas Projects to remain competitive, nimble, and effective in our approach. We are looking for a self-starter, who is able to work with minimal supervision and able to drive items to definitive closure.
What you’ll do
Impact project decision making with clear, analysis, reporting, and data
Provide leadership and direction to execute in accordance with Project Delivery Standard deliverables, processes, and procedures including but not limited to:
Work Breakdown Structure
Coordinate with the Planning / Scheduling and Progress Measurement team
Risk Management
Management of Change
Cost Management
Analysis, forecasting, and prediction
Program Reporting
Benchmarking
SCM Support
Invoice, receipts, and accruals processing
Project Closeout and Post Construction Project Controls
Manage, mentor, and lead staff of 10+ direct reports to accomplish project controls deliverables along with program coordination and reporting deliverables
Build an increased focus on standardized reporting and forward-looking analytics to help guide our Project Managers and Sr Leadership with information and trends we are seeing developing within our projects.
Manage the many organizational requests through a centralized project support team without disruption to the project cost and scheduling teams with projects in flight
Liaise with other departments as necessary including Supply Chain, Project Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers and PMs (Project Managers), and external vendors as required to ensure effective and accurate cost and schedule tracking and coding
Work specifically with Supply Chain to ensure alignment between supply chain and controls systems and processes on item coding, pay item structure, and pay item/contract progress to date
Work with Construction Managers and field Project Control team on implementing field controls procedures and progress measurements that feeds into the overall project reporting
Lead analysis on a variety of project types and sizes including large growth projects and programmatic maintenance capital portfolios
Minimum Qualifications
Post-Secondary degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or a similar discipline
10 years of relevant industry experience
Proven strong facilitation, communication, and analytical skills (both written and verbal)
Strong working knowledge of project control and schedule functions and project accounting processes and systems, especially SAP, Omega Pims, and Primavera Project Manager (P6)
Strong computer skills (MS Office, PowerBI, SAP)
Proven ability to influence accountable decision makers to make the best business decisions possible through decision enabling analysis and communication
Preferred Qualifications
Formal leadership and management experience
Direct experience in pipeline transportation controls and/or pipeline construction projects (pipelines, Compressor Stations, meter stations and other associated appurtenances)
Field construction experience
