United Restaurant Supplies Looking for Category Analyst (On Site) at Brampton, ON Full Time

Position Summary:

As the Gordon Food Service supplier of smallwares, United is innovating in this space and looking for a driven, entrepreneurial and analytical Category Analyst (on site). Reporting Director of Category Management, this position will provide direction to the equipment & smallwares category in support of the goals of Gordon Food Service and United Restaurant Supplies. Determine marketing objectives and recommend strategies, including promotion, expense budgets, profit plans and future development of the category, and manage vendor relationships, including assisting in contract negotiations. This person will support national category and brand strategies, and create and manage the processes and policies between GFS and United.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop and facilitate annual category strategic plans in support of the United marketing strategy. Communicate effectively with National on issues pertinent to business success to include understanding the Divisions key performance indicators and category impact on performance indicators.

• Develop and facilitate annual category strategic plans in support of the GFS and United marketing strategy.

• Communicate effectively with the National category team on issues and policies pertinent to mutual business success.

• Understanding the key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics for both GFS and United.

• Collaborate with division operations, National Category marketing, and procurement teams to establish appropriate division product mix to attain sales and margin goals.

• Understand, request and analyze pertinent reports and resources to drive effective decision-making to provide product expertise.

• Participate in the planning and execution of sales product training, the execution of food shows other related shows and activities in support of strategic plans.

• Help develop marketing materials and tools to support United and GFS sales teams in growing sales

• Manage costing policies and influence procurement programs at United, and between United and GFS

• Identify areas to improve processes, increase accuracy or reduce labour

• Manage product launches, new vendors, conversions and stock status of items at United and GFS

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Two-Three years previous sales or product experience with emphasis in product/category knowledge, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• High School Diploma or General Equivalent Degree. Bachelor degree in Business Administration or Marketing preferred.

• Very good mathematical skills to use profitability models to analyze and interpret data.

• Proven ability to create and foster positive relationships

• Strong understanding of industry trends, competition, product pricing

• Excellent follow-up with attention to detail.

• Must display a strong desire to succeed.

• Must be able to manage one’s own time, prioritize work tasks, be detail-oriented, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Advanced skills with the use of spreadsheets

• Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and travel for multiple days in Canada and the USA

• Ability to take on new responsibilities with a strong desire to succeed

• Excellent communication in an open and direct manner; conveys information clearly and concisely, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong listening skills – understand and reflect accurately on the message.

• Solid administrative skills – accurate with information and transactions.

• Team player, actively participates to create and execute on team goals.
