Our client, Haakon Industries, is looking for a seasoned HR Generalist to join their growing team in Richmond, BC.

The Human Resources Generalist in partnership with the Director of Operations, will focus their efforts on culture development, management support, conflict resolution, regulatory compliance, procedures, and ethical standards. As a member of the Haakon team, you will conduct business according to the details of your job description and the employee manual, with a commitment to continuous improvement and respect for people.

What You Will Be Doing

• Prepare and implement a comprehensive recruiting and retention program to build a stable well-trained labour pool
• Provides on-site training for all employees in the areas of HR & safety
• Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
• Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
• Supervise consistent application of performance evaluations and feedback
• Implement employee/personnel programs, including skills development training and health and safety programs
• Conduct exit interviews with resigning employees to gain a more in-depth understanding of why they are resigning
• Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and other deductions
• Ensure accurate processing of sick pay, benefits, and vacation payouts

What You Bring To The Table

• Post-secondary education or diploma in Human Resources or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience working in Human Resources
• Knowledge of required employment legislation
• Understanding of British Columbia labour legislation
• Highly flexible with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be flexible and have the ability to manage ever-changing priorities
• Experience with complex and personal employee relations issues
• Experience with Ceridian Dayforce an asset
• Unionized experience an asset
• Occupational Health and Safety regulation knowledge an asset
