Business Data Analyst – Hybrid Remote
Reports to: Head of Data, Baker’s Delight in Australia
Location: Vancouver, BC
We have an exciting, newly created opportunity for a proactive and hands-on Data Analyst who is passionate about data and enjoys championing a culture of data-driven analysis. This key role is responsible for building reporting tools and supporting business decisions through the provision of data for the purpose of global (90% Canada & 10% Australia ) enterprise reporting and data analytics. The Data Analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to elicit relevant data and information to support reporting & business insights improve efficiency and transparency of data across the organization domestically and globally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical guidance in regards to best practices around data analytics, dashboards, reports and applications
- Conducting and supporting peer reviews to ensure data is fit for purpose with regards to the development of Proof of Concepts, dashboards and reports
- Ensuring the developed use cases will meet the Data Model, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence best practices
- Acquiring and processing data from multiple sources and systems using SQL and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Working closely with Technology Teams, internal stakeholders and SMEs to interpret data requirements, identify solutions in relation to data management, and recommend technical solutions on data elements to support business decisions
- Assisting with the establishment and ongoing review and refinement of the data governance policy(s) and/or management such as data ownership, master data management and metadata management
- Developing reporting strategies to complement departments reporting requirements and overall enterprise strategy
- Acting as a trusted advisor to department heads, commercial and marketing analysts for their data requirements
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What You Bring to the Table:
- 7+ years’ proven experience in data mining and development of data pipelines and business analysis, preferably in a Franchise or Retail environment
- Post-secondary Degree with concentration in computer science, information systems, data analytics or related field
- Proven experience on how to clean, join, and manipulate data using SQL to support and undertake analysis
- Fluency in SQL is essential including the ability to analyze, design, develop, test, and debug reports of varying complexity
- Experience in creating & maintaining dashboards using Power BI or similar.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implementation of efficiencies including synergies across countries
- Advanced in MS Excel and proficient knowledge of MS Outlook and Word
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team to discuss technical matters pertaining to issues, problems, or technical specifications
- High attention to detail and organizational skills while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
- Understanding of data science and/or AI/ML practices is an asset
