Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to strengthen expertise in both operational and technical accounting processes by assisting the US Controller in ensuring timely and accurate financial statements for the Company. This individual will be a critical member of the Accounting team and play an essential part of the monthly close and financial reporting process, as well as overseeing US multi-state payroll and sales tax obligations. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS, experience with complex revenue recognition scenarios for SaaS solutions, should be detail-oriented, enjoy working in a fast-past, ever-changing, high-growth environment and have a strong bias towards action.
Key Accountabilities
• Support the period-end close processes by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, flux/variance analysis and management reporting within established timelines
• Act as the revenue recognition expert ensuring proper reporting of revenue and deferred revenue and providing guidance to cross-functional teams on revenue treatment of various Miovision solutions
• Assist in adoption of new accounting standards and documentation of technical accounting memos
• Assist the US Controller in the account reconciliation process by ensuring timely preparation of assigned account recs, review of those prepared by the staff accountant, and resolution of reconciling items
• Review and manage multi-state payroll processes for all US-based employees by reviewing semi-monthly payroll processing and ensuring accurate reporting of wages, benefits and payroll taxes
• Manage all sales tax collection, filing and remittance obligations
• Participate in various cross-functional initiatives to optimize and improve financial systems and processes, including ERP migration and module implementations
• Support the US Controller in enhancing the Company’s existing Accounting Policies and Procedures and seek and implement continuous improvements in standard work
• Design, implement, and monitor financial control procedures to maintain a strong control environment
• Assist in audit processes by gathering requested data and providing context to auditors and driving timely completion of audit procedures
• Complete various ad hoc and special projects
