Linguists are key players at TransPerfect Montreal for English into French-Canadian materials. Your particular language skills and subject matter expertise will allow you to create and finalize the end product before it goes to the client. Under the guidance of your manager and in collaboration with Project Managers, you’ll be responsible for translating/post-editing/proofreading documents pertaining to a variety of clients or to a specific VIP client in the Technical sector.
We are currently looking for a Senior Linguist, with expertise in the Technical related sectors (Manufacturing/Industrial, Construction, MSDS, User Manuals, IT-Software, Automotive, Electronics, Aeronautics, Consumer Devices).
Description:
Translate/Post-Edit and Proofread documents in the Technical sector.
Ensure translated documents mirror the original source document.
Properly utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (refer to client style guide, reference materials, glossaries, etc.) making sure they are consistently used throughout the jobs.
Maintain databases and use translation memories
Juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Keep Project Managers informed of project progress and meet client and internal deadlines.
Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for your role and assigned by your manager.
Make recommendations to your manager on ways to improve any processes, etc., as part of TransPerfect Montreal’s commitment to continual improvement.
Complete administrative tasks in a timely fashion, in support of your work and of the company’s KPIs.
Be able to organize the daily workload
Be flexible with changes of priorities
Own the quality of one or more dedicated account(s) or projects
Oversee the results of the review step and resolve questions from linguists and in-country reviewers throughout the project life cycle
Senior Translators are also occasionally required to take part in calls and meetings with the client to gather feedback in direct contact, to enforce the relationship with the client
Take an active role in the testing and training of external vendors
Required Skills:
Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills and cultural knowledge of target and source languages (English and French for Canada).
Acute attention to detail, spelling and grammar.
Ability to learn new skills quickly and be comfortable working with various technologies and interfaces.
Ability to support multiple projects and manage shifting priorities while keeping accurate track record of time allotted to each.
Exceptional problem solving/critical thinking skills.
Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations, especially under tight deadlines.
Positive attitude in the face of change, client-centered mindset and pro-active approach to problem avoidance and resolution.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Translation Certificate, or their equivalent.
Native fluency in Canadian French and near-native fluency in English.
Solid experience with MS Office, Adobe software (i.e., PDF mark-ups), and CAT tools.
Experience translating and proofreading documents in one of the above-listed subject matters.
Experience with other document sharing platforms is considered an asset.
