Anatomic Pathology encompasses Histology, Cytology and Medical Transcription. Staff work closely with pathologists and a wide variety of departments and extended clients to provide Anatomic Pathology services.
Major Functions And Responsibilities
- Receive, sort and prepare specimens for examination/testing, transportation, storage and discard
- File, sort and track slides/blocks (and melt blocks)
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment
- Stain, coverslip and deliver slides
- Prepare stain solutions, reagents
- Other duties as required
Required Skills
- Clerical, keyboarding/computer skills to perform basic LIS functions
- Excellent keyboarding and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be thorough, accurate and detail oriented
- Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and in a team environment
Required Experience
- Medical Terminology and Pathology experience is an asset
- Current experience in Anatomic Pathology is an asset
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Other Information
- The current shift indicated is subject to change due to operational requirements
- Preference for this position will be given to bargaining unit members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the DynaLIFE/HSAA Collective Agreement
- Please note that successful candidates will be subject either a probation or trial period
