AGI-Westeel Looking for Logistics Administrator at Winnipeg, MB Full Time

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the Logistics Administrator ensure that all orders are processed in a timely manner. Ensures that the products shipped match the requirement of the delivery orders and that the purchased items received match the requirement of the purchase orders. This includes ensuring materials meet the required specifications and are shipped or received in the proper quantity and condition.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Respond to internal/external customer/supplier concerns.
• Participate in carrier contract negotiations.
• Arrange special services (e.g. Expedites) as required.
• Monitor transportation activities.
• Keep management aware of progress, developments, and pending problems.
• Provide direction and support for effective control and reduction of costs.
• Perform special projects and/or assignments.
• Implement good housekeeping practices.
• Coordinate logistical processes for new programs as needed.
• Conduct regular cycle counts as required and ensure that all adjustments are made.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed
• Support operations and quality control to resolve problems associated with the manufacturing of the products as required.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed on an on-going basis
• Ensure compliance with all applicable H & S regulations and standards
• Coordinate with other departments such as Customer Support, Planning & Production to ensure a smooth transition from sales order to delivery
• Assist in back-up coverage for other positions in branch as required
• Communicates shipping information to customers as required
• Communication with Customer Service on customer deliveries
• Fills out paperwork, including invoices, bills of lading, customs papers, waybills, etc.
• Ensures that all information required for month-end is processed in a timely manner
• Establishes and maintains good customer relations
• Track shipping performance and cost savings
• Follow shipping schedule and distributing to affected personnel
• Handles freight claims as required
• Inputs purchase order receiving information into the ERP system
• Scan hardcopy of receiving documents, PO, and upload into ERP system
• Generates NCR’s for nonconforming material and updates NCR tracking system when receiver activity assignments are complete
• Schedules local pickups and deliveries with local driver
• Communicates with vendors to resolve discrepancies
• Fills out and submits purchase requisitions for department supplies
• Contacts purchasing to update purchase order information as required
• Coordinates inspection activities with inspector in accordance with specified receiving procedures
• Orders lumber and other shipping supplies, as per established purchasing procedure
• Trains new employees
• Ensures that products received are identified properly in accordance with appropriate Quality Assurance procedures
• Ensures that goods are properly tagged when they arrive and coordinates delivery to the correct department
• Reports nonconforming material to the shipping administrators.
• Check delivery paperwork & verify order completeness prior to shipment
• Fills out paperwork
• Proper packaging and labelling of all shipments
• Coordinates the loading of trucks
• Follow shipping schedule and distributing to affected personnel
• Other duties as assigned
• Able to work flexible hours

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Post secondary education is an asset
• Enrolment in CITT/PLog designation an asset
• Well versed in Microsoft office suite of products
• 3 to 5 years related experience is an asset

• SAP knowledge is an asset but not a requirement Knowledge of ISO procedures an asset
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to multi-task and execute a wide range of details and tasks quickly and effectively.
• Good judgement/problem solving ability along with strong customer service and relationship building skills.
• Able to work independently
• Ability to maintain records and keep track of all areas of responsibility
• Able to work flexible shifts
• Collaborative team player
• Physically able to walk and stand for long periods and carry boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to check orders on trailers
• Ability to work in the outdoors
