Our client has been engaged in development, design, construction, and management for over three decades. The client’s portfolio encompasses landmark locations in Vancouver, Toronto, and San Diego.

Responsibilities:

The Accounts Receivable Specialist role involves the following responsibilities:

• Review and analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify and address overdue accounts. Prioritize collection actions based on due dates and the severity of outstanding balances.
• Contact commercial and residential tenants regarding overdue payments. Use methods like phone calls, emails, or letters to follow up on outstanding balances.
• Ensure prompt serving of notices and evictions in line with tenancy rules and regulations.
• Maintain regular communication with collection agencies and legal counsel.
• Attend necessary court proceedings.
• Approach collections with professionalism and a focus on customer service.
• Collaborate with property managers to implement and monitor policies and procedures that enhance revenue and operational efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or tenant disputes. Coordinate with relevant departments for swift resolution.
• Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing tenants by reviewing credit applications and conducting checks to minimize bad debt risk.
• Foster positive tenant relationships to streamline collections and address any inquiries or concerns about their accounts.
• Generate routine reports for management, detailing accounts receivable status, aging analysis, and collection efforts.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the real estate industry, demonstrating a successful history in collections.
• Familiarity with Yardi software.
• A solid grasp of accounting principles, encompassing accounts receivable processes, credit terms, invoicing, and cash application.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting financial data and identifying discrepancies.
• Knowledge of real estate market fundamentals and regulations in either Canada or the United States.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• A proactive and hands-on approach, with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for professional customer interactions during collections and collaboration with internal teams.
