CanadaOne Auto Looking for Financial Controller at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Full Time

Freedom Ford and Waterloo Ford are looking for an Automotive Dealership Controller to manage the accounting and reporting functions and accounting process and procedure requirements for the dealership.

The successful candidate will report directly to Amit Singh, be a vital member of the senior management team, and participate actively in the Dealership’s financial and operational functions.

Skills Required

·         Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

·         Strong communication skills

·         Prior experience in an accounting oversight role

·         Strong knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets

·         Previous car dealership accounting experience is considered an asset

·         Strong knowledge of Reynolds or CDK/ADP is considered an asset

·         Experience working with CaseWare is considered an asset

Key Responsibilities

• Financial planning, budgeting, and expense control
• Attend senior management meetings including but not limited to forecast and budget meetings.
• Oversee or perform tasks to ensure the financial functions are reconciled monthly including (but not limited to): cash, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payables, manufacturer statements, payroll administration, vehicle deal commissioning, intercompany accounts, etc.
• Meeting all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines as required by Head Office and the Dealer Principal/GMs including monthly reconciliations, monthly and quarterly reporting to Head Office, covenant calculations, financial analysis, year-end reporting, etc.
• Ensure all tax requirements are handled properly.
• Management of dealership accounting staff including the assistant controller or office manager, payroll, human resources, accounts payable, accounts receivable, deal clerks, etc.
• Other responsibilities include coach, mentoring, and training accounting staff members, hiring/termination, contract tracking, and analysis, managing legal matters, OEM and insurance requirements are met, and liaising with head office staff and all senior members of management.
• Completing analysis or requests made by Head Office, the Dealer Principal, or Department Managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years experience in the area
• Proficiency with current financial software
• Understanding of US GAAP
• Active Canadian CPA/CA/CMA/CGA designation
