Position Overview

Are you a savvy UX designer passionate about creating beautiful, innovative digital solutions for meaningful, impactful problems? Do you want to grow your career in a global team of passionate design professionals? Autodesk is looking for a Senior Experience Designer to join our Fusion Design (XD) team to collaborate with other designers focused on transforming the product design and manufacturing industry.

In this role, you will apply and grow your experience, design, and research skills as you help us craft the next generation of Design and Documentation functionality for Autodesk Fusion 360 (http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview?term=1-YEAR&tab=subscription) . You will work closely with talented UX designers and stakeholders from Product Management, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Content Development, and Quality Assurance to create compelling interaction design artifacts that help our customers solve their most critical “design and make” problems. You will also play an integral part in supporting the broader Fusion ecosystem, where Inventor (http://www.autodesk.com/products/inventor/overview?term=1-YEAR&tab=subscription) and Fusion 360 (http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview?term=1-YEAR&tab=subscription) are the flagship products. Outcomes will be about helping us create solutions that follow a UX strategy that delights the customer while meeting business objectives and deadlines. Responsibilities

  • Prepare interaction design assets to support customer research and data analysis. You may be called on to participate in live customer research activities so that you begin to build your understanding of the real problems our customers face

  • Help distill customer needs into capabilities that will benefit the customer most effectively

  • Learn how business, marketing, design, technical opportunities, goals, and constraints are integrated into product designs

  • Conceptualize and create interaction design artifacts from sketches, wireframes, and other UX deliverables representing your design thinking capabilities

  • Ability to communicate UX designs to colleagues across our stakeholder groups and customers to validate conceptual designs

  • Deliver interaction design documentation for various audiences, including Software Development, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Marketing

  • Review feature implementation, test plans, and documentation to ensure the accuracy of desired results

  • Participate in design review sessions with other user experience designers and receive constructive feedback that will help you develop your interaction design abilities

  • Research in partnership with the User Research team on critical activities (UI design validation, testing concepts, customer feedback, insights, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in experience design, interaction design, or UX with demonstrable examples of designing for digital solutions

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with systems, taxonomies, libraries, structures, and making connections between data

  • Sound fundamentals in human-centered design best practices with a focus on digital experiences for various devices (i.e. desktop, browser, mobile.)

  • Experience with design and prototyping using tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, and/or Sketch

  • Experience with Autodesk products, CAD/CAM technologies (AutoCAD, Fusion, Mastercam, SOLIDWORKS, On Shape, Blender, Creo), or designed solutions for complex, multi-faceted experiences like data visualization, 3D modeling, and/or simulation

  • Experience in Agile methodologies and working with cross-functional teams to execute an overall strategy

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, and collaborative cross-functional environment

  • Able to influence decision-making at all levels

  • Solid communication and storytelling with an ability to explain technical topics to a non-technical audience

  • Evidence of ability to simplify the complex through iteration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent work experience in UX design and/or related fields like architecture, industrial design, or mechanical engineering

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $103,200 and $178,090. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
