The Executive Director, City Operations reports directly to the City Manager, and is responsible for the oversight of three departments and approximately 700 employees. The ED, City Operations is a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the City and provides leadership and direction for the delivery of Transit, Roadways, Water, Wastewater and Solid Waste. The Citizens Services portfolio includes the Transit and Fleet Department, Roadways and Transportation Department, and Water, Waste and Environment Department.
The Executive Director, City Operations position comprises three leadership roles: corporate, departmental, and community. Corporate Leadership focuses on providing specialized expertise and advice to the Executive team and Council in the development of corporate strategy and governance, working as a member of the ELT to make effective corporate decisions, and fostering a high-performance culture. Department leadership focuses on oversight of department operations and creation of a high-performing workforce. Community leadership is an externally facing role that focuses on building and maintaining strong community relationships as well as influencing community direction through Council.
